Acquiring two cuffs from a single source, I received valuable guidance on their origins. One bracelet, adorned entirely with rubies (now sold), was expertly crafted by Bernard J Cachini of Zuni descent. Reflecting on my time in Bangkok during the 1970s, where I immersed myself in the world of gemstones, I concentrated particularly on rubies. Trips to Mae Sot, a quaint town near the Thai-Burma border, presented opportunities to procure these precious stones. The rubies, although heavily included, boasted captivating hues reminiscent of those in the cuff.

The mystery remains as to how these exquisite stones found their way to a Zuni jeweler. It is plausible that these translucent gems were a unique addition to his repertoire. Encased in solid bezels, the stones exhibit a subtle yet appealing color profile, suggesting a distinct origin and craftsmanship.
